Catch-up and Apology Time

I’m sorry for not having been here as much, dispiace, désolé, lypámai, und es tut mir leid. Firstly as always – please share, reskeet, boost, and like this article, short as it is. It really does help, as does a donation. So what’s happened?

Mostly it’s been really annoying and debilitating illness (various, both of us) interspersed with a few days of feeling okay. Kerry’s convalescence care has become the norm, but there are still bumps along that path. I’ve had muscle (myopathy) issues and we’ve both had a long-lasting, irritating, wracking dry cough.

And the last few days I’ve had a few liver/gallstone issues so I’ve gotten an emergency appointment with a doctor at the medical centre, and they required a COVID test in consideration of that cough. It’s been a while since I’ve had that tightening in the stomach that comes from waiting the 15 minutes for the test to finish . . . (Clear, BTW)

UPDATE: Seen the doctor, waiting for a CT to determine what needs to be done. Probably by the time this publishes I’ll either be just going to or just finished with surgery.`

UPDATE UPDATE: Went to Imaging yesterday where the receptionist was not very efficient and booked my CT scan several days in the future – for a gall/liver/lung scan – so I rang back this morning and got someone who knew how quickly this sort of imaging needed to be done and will be going to the scan in half an hour. You cannot make this shit up. I hope yesterday’s receptionist gets retrained – it took over 40 minutes to get it wrong, and lost me my chance to get my bloodwork done next door that day as the pathologist had gone home in that time…

Anyway it’s all conspired to chew up almost all of four months of my productive time. I’ve been able to write a few articles to supplement the already-scheduled ones but it’s been slowly chewing through text I’d been writing for the last six months and also consuming the newer more immediate articles too.

I did get a post out on EV technology that took some of my limited concentration and energy during that time, and there’s been a bit of a situation for the last few months that’s given me the perfect chance to do a TEdAMENU Tuckertime in-depth article about those single hob benchtop induction cookers and provide some unbiased opinion and experiences with five (!!!) different ones. Yeah there’s a backstory to that as well but I’m still writing that one . . .

And the hope is, as ever, that things will pick up again and give me some energy and time to get stuff done. Story quantity will increase again, yay.
