I’ve made this a hahaha article because on the overt level it is – it’s a huge laugh. “Oh crap! Those nominations were due on Wednesday? THIS week? Oh oops – can I predate the envelopes, haha?” and it’s a tale that sounds like a sitcom plot.
But in fact it’s a major stuff-up. One hundred and forty or so candidates for the NSW Liberal party will be ineligible to stand for somewhere between thirteen and thirty local electorates.
Another three hundred candidates for the party have been confirmed to be okay, but this indicates that a quarter of the Liberal party are out of the next local elections. That’s gotta hurt.
This isn’t a State-wide book club or bridge tournament – it’s *supposed* to be the NSW branch of one of our political parties – which are *supposed* to be able to run a whole country.

* For those wondering what the title suggests they can’t organise, a euphemism for it might be “they couldn’t organise – umm – sex – in Bangkok with a fistful of fifties.” And I know this is NQR and not PC but it’s from the 70s and PC wasn’t yet invented back then. ; )
