Last few days: Ouchies, still having trouble with shoulders, having crapdays [tm: Me] and today finally a warm morning, and a list of work to get into. Top priority: mow the piddly-puddly lawn, whipper-snip the edges.
But first…
Lift reticulation hoses so the whipper-snipper string doesn’t do a collateral disconnect with extreme force and prejudice in the finer dripper hoses as it did last time. Did I say a warm day? Also no longer morning, really, more like approaching midday and 30C (weather page said something mid-20’s-ish but I have a few thermometers around and they said different.
Loaded a cart with tools and bits, hauled it around the driveway out one gate in the other and I was deffo sweating. Lifted the hoses and secured them behind straps I’d made and predrilled in the shed (where it was a digitally confirmed 33C) and that actually too the stuffin’ put of me. But we have a hose with a mist setting and so a quick cool-down, realise I was probably stupid to do that *before* using an electric whippersnapper and mower but you know, après moi, le déluge! Mais, s’il vous plait on any mains extension cables.
The mowening
Meh. Piece of cake. Manoeuvre le wheelbarrow, snip the hell out of edges and rake out onto the grass, hydrate hydrate hydrate, switch to mower, by now it was afternoon and – hotter – and after a burst of sweating and feeling like maybe I was a bit premature putting myself through that when I was still technically supposed to be out of action.
But I hustled and finished, put everything back in the cart and hauled it al back to the shed, put all the gear away, came to sit indoors with Kerry and look back out and – hey, didn’t it look like a storm coming in? Lucky I got all that work done earlier so I wouldn’t have to cope with the sudden cooler temperature and cloud cover . . .
FML
On the plus side – loads of exercise to build the rotator cuff muscles back up, and actually sun and heat always make me feel better. But oh, my perfectly shyte timing…
