Yes this site combines all my other publications and they’re about stuff like (cringes because this term was cool, like, twenty years ago when I started TEdADYNE Systems) cyber ethics which now includes cleantech and dirtytech, and garden and food articles, recycling articles and sustainable energy and – you get the idea – but it also includes one central concept I stole from ancient Aussie politics:
Keep The Bastards Honest!
which you can look up here, and also get the main message I want to disseminate – despite being myself a left-leaning person politically, and the phrase coming from a Liberal Democrat – USE THE TOOLS THAT FIT THE PURPOSE.
You even see what I did there? I used Labor (left wing) colour on a slogan by a mainly Liberal senator, when the right wing wears blue. The tools that fit the purpose. And like everything else I do, it’s a political choice even when I’m not being political. I don’t know about you but the same things that drive my decisions to write about green topics stems from my red-leaning upbringing. (See? It’s all the colour of your tie. And I’ve only ever worn ties at funerals so they are accoutrement non grata with me.)
And I don’t so much care about the politics, come to that. I’m looking at a different colour split – the greens and blues and reds of the planet vs the blacks and greys of commercialisation, pollution, industry, and exploitation.
When I aim to “activate” you, I want you to become active and pick your colour. I want you to fight for it. Fight because if we don’t, we all end up impoverished and worse off for it. And I want you to do it non-violently. There’s too much of that in the world already, and we have a new tool kit at our disposal, we have social media, we have email, we have petitions, donations, we even still have the option to send actual paper letters to Ministers and Senators and public servants at all levels.
And we’re approaching thirty million of us in Australia, vs what is in the end just a handful of people making decisions in the government. We’ve got this. Get out there and share posts, share links, talk to yur social graph, talk to your government, your newspapers, your colleagues.
We’ve got this!
